Experience an unforgettable evening of masterful Persian music with two of the world’s most celebrated virtuosos. Kayhan Kalhor, a Grammy-winning kamancheh (Persian spike fiddle) player, is renowned for his breathtaking improvisations and his role in bringing Persian classical music to international audiences. His collaborations range from Yo-Yo Ma’s Silk Road Ensemble to groundbreaking cross-cultural projects that blend East and West.
Joining him is Kiya Tabassian, acclaimed composer and setar (Persian long-necked lute) virtuoso, whose innovative artistry bridges Persian traditions with contemporary global sounds. As co-founder of the renowned ensemble Constantinople, Tabassian is admired for weaving intricate rhythms and shimmering melodies into performances that are both timeless and daringly fresh.
Together, Kalhor and Tabassian create music that transcends borders—intensely soulful, rhythmically rich, and filled with moments of spontaneous brilliance. From ancient Persian modes to mesmerizing improvisations, their dialogue of strings promises an evening of emotional depth and cultural discovery.
Whether you are a longtime lover of world music or curious to explore the elegance of Persian classical traditions, this concert offers a rare chance to witness two modern masters in one of Boston’s most beautiful concert halls.
